AllerEase Washable Allergy Protection Pillow Review (2019)

As a long term suffer of nocturnal asthma and allergies, it is very important for me to have a hypoallergenic pillow. I also have pets so having a pillow specifically designed to restrict pet dander was pretty high on my priority list of things that a pillow needed.

I have had many different pillows that were suitable for people with allergies in the past, some have worked, but often I have been left a little disappointed with the quality and the overall lifespan of the product. You generally pay a premium price for a Hypo-allergenic pillow, so in return I would expect it to hold up against the test of time. Many times in the past I have had to throw a pillow out just after just 12 months, because it had lost its shape and just wasn’t providing adequate support any longer.

What I really love about the AllerEase pillow is not only is it machine-washable, but it retained its shape. I have noticed that after washing the pillow several times already in hot water, its shape and its feel has not diminished at all. I have since purchased 3 more pillows for the rest of my family, who love them as much as I do. My wife thinks it’s probably the most comfortable pillow she has ever slept on, and I have to agree, it is definitely on par with some other pillows that I have had in the past that cost over $100 dollars.

I really appreciate the fact that the pillow is chemical and pesticide free. Many other hypo-allergenic pillows are sprayed with really questionable chemicals, which don’t sit very well with me at all, especially since you’re spending about one third of your day with your head sitting on top of these dodgy chemicals, breathing in the vapors that they emit, which can lead to many health issues down the track.

Equally important is that it is very comfortable and supportive. I was occasionally waking up really stiff in my shoulders in neck with my old pillow, but nowadays I’m waking up springing out of bed with a peep in my step I haven’t had for a very long time.

I have been getting much better sleep overall since using it. It took a few nights, maybe a week or two to fully get used to the pillow and that’s probably because I was so used to my old pillow, which I had had for about 3 years. But pretty soon I found it much more comfortable and supportive than my old pillow. I was swapping back and forth between the 2 for a few nights but I knew my old pillow just wasn’t cutting it and was contributing to my nocturnal asthma, allergies and muscular stiffness.

The pillow is also very well priced. It is hard to find decent pillows for $20, and normally I look to spending a lot more on a pillow, but this pillow goes to show that the best pillows aren’t necessarily the most expensive. In the past I have bought pillows that cost triple and hated them to the point that I donated them to charity because I couldn’t use them (and I would feel guilty even offering them up to guests that stayed with me).

Probably the biggest endorsement I can give this pillow is that my nocturnal or night time asthma symptoms have all but vanished since using this pillow. Prior to having this pillow, it wasn’t uncommon for me to wake up a couple of times a night with a tight chest or full blown wheezing pretty much every night or every second or third night at best. This was especially true during the winter or on cooler nights. This pillow has helped tremendously for me to be able to get a good night sleep, which has a flow on effect to so many other things. I have noticed I have much more energy throughout the day, I no longer am feeling exhausted come 3 or 4 o’clock, whereby inevitable I was taking an afternoon siesta pretty much every day I could get away with it.

I value my health so much, so I feel this pillow has giving me so much to be grateful for. What price is one’s health worth after all?
