How It All Began...

Just in case you were unaware, the ZEEQ Smart Pillow originally gained a lot of publicity after a very successful kickstarter campaign that began in July of 2016.

The campaign was created by Warrick Bell and Miguel Marrero, who are the original founders of the pillow.

As I write this you can see how much support these two received for their innovative and unique pillow design they presented to the community.

Funnily enough they achieved their funding goal of $50,000 in the first day of the campaign.

ZEEQ Update 1

In total there were 2,087 backers and $400,787 pledged towards the project, which is 8 times more than their original funding goal. This was a massive achievement for their project.

And now that we have covered some of the history of the pillow let’s go ahead and check out the pillow itself!

The Pillow

I’m sure by now everyone is wondering whether this pillow actually lives up to the hype surrounding it.

Let me start off by saying that the ZEEQ Smart Pillow is commonly referred to as the ‘Swiss Army Knife of the bedroom.’

There is no denying that this statement is very true. The ZEEQ Smart Pillow has many different features associated with it. I never thought a pillow could have this many features – until I found out about the ZEEQ Smart Pillow.

Here are some of the features of the pillow:

Snore Alarm

The first feature I want to discuss is the snore alarm.

To put it simply, if you are snoring loud enough the pillow will respond by gently vibrating. It does this to try and get you to change sleeping positions during the night.

Wireless Audio

The pillow features an in-built sound system, which includes 8 wireless speakers that allow you to listen to music/audio as you rest your head.

You can use this to listen to binaural beats, audiobooks, ASMR, or anything else that would allow you to get a better sleep.

Wireless audio solves the problem of having to wear headphones to bed, which can get rather uncomfortable if you are a side sleeper.

You can also set a timer for when the audio turns off. This means you won’t have to worry about the audio playing the entire night.

Smart Alarm

This is a pretty interesting feature. The pillow is able to wake you up at the most optimal time during sleep. This is based on which sleep cycle you are in.

Sleep Analysis

There are multiple sensors built in to the pillow that track your sleep. The data recording during sleep can be sent to the ZEEQ app for you to take a look at. This is good for analysing your sleep patterns, and snoring.

Amazon Echo

The ZEEQ Smart Pillow is able to connect to Amazon, which can give you instant sleep reports with only your voice.

Sleep Motion Detection

Sensors built into the pillow are able to track your movements during the night as you sleep.

Remote Control

The pillow comes with a remote control that can be used to turn the pillow on, adjust the volume of the device, and control a variety of other things. This is useful for when you don’t have access to your smartphone.

ZEEQ Remote

Once you have finished using the remote you can easily store it away in the storage pocket found on the pillow.

Long Battery Life

The battery can last for around 2-weeks, which is pretty good in my opinion.

What Do We Think of the Pillow?

Now that we have discussed some of the features associated with the ZEEQ Smart Pillow, let’s go ahead and give you our opinion of the pillow.

I want to start off by saying that the pillow has received quite a few controversial reviews on Amazon from customers who have bought the pillow.

Furthermore, there seems to be quite a few fake reviews on Amazon, which have all gone and rated the product 5 stars. Most of these accounts have only ever reviewed one product, which just so happens to be this one.

Many customers have complained that the pillow is rather firm, which is something I would expect out of a pillow that has so much built in to it. In addition to this, a few customers have said that they can feel the electronics as they rest their head on the pillow.

This is quite a deal breaker for me. When I am trying to sleep I do not want feel something hard underneath my head. This will just make sleeping even harder for me.

Final Thoughts

I’m not going to lie; I think the concept of the ZEEQ Smart Pillow is absolutely amazing. If the pillow worked the way it was intended to work then I could see it changing the way that future pillows are designed.

Sadly though, it does not live up to the hype that originally surrounded the pillow.

Even though the pillow is quite firm, it still feels reasonably comfortable. So I will have to give the guys props for that.

For the high price tag I have to say that the ZEEQ Smart Pillow is not worth it. You are better off looking at other pillows.

There are many other pillows that feel a lot more comfortable to use, and if you need to track your sleep then there are many devices that can help you do that.

Overall, the craftsmanship of the pillow is great, but it fails to deliver in so many different areas. I would personally recommend that you look into other pillow alternatives to this one.
